Alt Fuel News Roundup: 7/12/12

Here’s the latest news from the alternative fuel and fleet industries:

  • New Alliance AutoGas partner Como Oil & Propane will help regional businesses in areas of Minnesota and Wisconsin switch to clean, affordable propane autogas.
  • Lewis Pest Control in Alabama expects to save around $16k annually with autogas trucks converted and fueled through Alliance AutoGas and the Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program. The small business is so pleased with the new autogas fleet vehicles, it plans to fund autogas conversions for two additional vehicles every year.
  • ROUSH CleanTech announced it received approval from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to retrofit 2010 model year 5.4-liter Ford E-150, E-250 and E-350 cargo vans and wagons with its propane autogas fuel system.
  • In case you didn’t catch it last weekend, the long-running television program MotorWeek highlighted Veolia Transportation’s Baltimore propane autogas taxi fleet. Veolia is converting hundreds of taxis nationwide under the Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program. Check your local PBS listings for “MotorWeek” season 31, Episode 44.
  • The cost of electricity is not falling with fuel prices.
  • The city of Sugar Land, Texas, is considering compressed natural gas to power their fleet vehicles.
  • The U.S. Navy is receiving criticism for its investment into extremely expensive biofuels.
