It seems the secret’s out. Propane autogas is catching on with U.S. fleets like never before, filling a need for an affordable, domestic alternative fuel for organizations looking to avoid the high upfront costs often associated with switching to clean vehicle technology.
A green-tech division of the Portland Business Journal called Sustainable Business Oregon featured Alliance AutoGas partner Blue Star Gas in an article last week about Oregon fleets increasingly adopting propane autogas. And fleets like Muscogee County in Georgia, which we highlighted in a previous Autogas Fleet post, Davidson County in North Carolina and the City of Newport News in Virginia are all speaking out about the significant cost savings and reliable performance they’re experiencing with autogas vehicles.
This may sound like a new phenomenon to U.S. drivers, but the fact is that autogas already powers 18 million vehicles globally. It’s not new-fangled technology—it’s a tried and true alternative fuel that provides fleets dependable performance, a quick ROI, ease of use for drivers, lower fuel and maintenance costs and ultimately a reduced carbon footprint.
As larger, nationally recognized fleets like Veolia Transportation choose to convert vehicles to run on autogas, even more American fleet operators will discover the benefits of switching to this cost-effective clean fuel. Because it’s not really a secret—it’s the most viable alternative fuel on the market today, and it’s already powering thousands of vehicles nationwide.
